Clotrimazole is used to cure the fungal infections. It interacts
with 14-alpha demethylase and cytochrome P-450 enzyme. This
decreases the fungal wall integrity and thus helps to fight the
fungal infections. This enzyme converts the lanosterol to
ergosterol.Ergosterol is an important component of the yeast
membrane. This result in the increase in the cellular permeability.
Clotrimazole is also used to inhibitat endogenous respiration. This
is due to the reason as the drug interacts with
phospholipids.Clotrimazole uptakes the purine and also inhibits the
transformation of yeasts to mycelial.It also lets the phospholipids
biosynthesis in the body. The movements of calcium and potassium
concentrations are also governed by this drug so that the pathway of
ions can also be tracked and blocked through the Gardos channel.
According to the tests and past records it has been seen that
clotrimazole may have adverse results if the treatment is taken with
other medications. This drug may show unusual or allergic reactions
with other medicines, food, preservatives or other consumptions.
The treatment of Clotrimazole is not very advisable when pregnant of
when breast feeding the baby. The yeast infection can be treated
with the vaginal Candidiasis.100mg tablets are inserted in 7 days to
treat with the vaginal fungal infection. In some cases 500mg are
also used for one time dose. In case of vaginal fungal infection 1
applicatorful intravaginal Clotrimazole qhs are applied for 7 days.
Best results are obtained if used twice a day continuously for 7
days.
